Who we are

This website is operated by Reid Olson Media ("we," "us," "our"). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email us at mail@reidolsonmedia.com.

What we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address, plus the date and record of your consent.
  • Contact form: your name, email address, and your message.
  • Job applications: your name, email address, resume or portfolio link (if provided), and your written responses to application questions.
  • For security only: limited technical data (such as your IP address) is processed by our hosting and anti-spam providers to deliver the site and prevent abuse.

We do not knowingly collect any other personal information, and we do not collect sensitive categories of data (we specifically ask applicants not to include them). Please do not send Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, bank details, health information, or other sensitive personal information through our forms.

Why we use it (legal basis)

  • To send you our newsletter and occasional offers, based on your consent, which you give by checking the opt-in box when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • To reply to messages you send through the contact form, based on our legitimate interest in answering your inquiry.
  • To review and process job applications you submit, based on our legitimate interest in evaluating candidates for employment.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent spam, based on our legitimate interest in protecting our service.

We never sell your data

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we never will. We use your email only to send you our own newsletter and offers, the first-party marketing you opted in to, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We do not share it with outside advertisers or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising (the tracking-based ads that follow you across other websites and apps).

Who processes your data

We use a small set of trusted providers solely to run the service, not to sell your data:

  • Amazon SES: delivers our emails.
  • Cloudflare: hosts the site and provides security (including the anti-spam check on our forms).
  • Google Workspace: our own inbox, used to receive and reply to your messages.
  • Listmonk: our newsletter system, which we self-host on our own equipment, so your subscriber data stays with us.

Your data may be stored or processed in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter subscription until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep contact messages only as long as needed to handle your inquiry. We generally keep job applications for up to two years so we can evaluate candidates, maintain hiring records, and handle follow-up opportunities, unless a shorter period is appropriate or a longer period is required by law. You can request deletion at any time, subject to legal or operational retention needs.

How we protect it

We use HTTPS, Cloudflare security controls, anti-spam verification, access controls, local Keychain-backed secrets, and private local log permissions for backend records. No method of transmission or storage is perfect, but we use reasonable safeguards appropriate for the size and nature of this site.

Your rights

  • Unsubscribe: every newsletter email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you.
  • Withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
  • EU / UK / EEA: you have your rights under the GDPR, and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
  • California: you have your rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete, and correct your data. We do not sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Third-party links

Our site includes links to social media platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, Snapchat) and other external websites. Once you leave our site, their privacy policies apply. We have no control over and take no responsibility for their data practices.

Cookies & tracking

We don't use advertising or analytics trackers. Our anti-spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile) may set a cookie strictly to tell humans from bots.

Children

This site is intended for people 13 and older. When you sign up, you confirm you're at least 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us theirs, email mail@reidolsonmedia.com and we'll delete it. If you're in the EU/UK and under the age your country sets for marketing consent, please ask a parent or guardian first.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a revised date.
